Sharco Express was founded in 2008 by George Franczyk and his wife Joy in their family kitchen after nearly 20 years on the road as an owner-operator, buying one truck at a time. Now in its 2nd generation of family ownership, the company has grown to nearly 100 trucks and 200 trailers out of the main 25,000 square foot company terminal in Burton, MI.
1984
George Franczyk gets his CDL after immigrating to the US from Poland with his mother and sister.
2008
After nearly 25 years in the industry, George starts Sharco Express from his kitchen in Rochester, MI with about 10 trucks and 10 trailers
2015
Sharco moves into its current 25,000 square foot terminal in Burton, MI. Fleet consists of 35 trucks and 50 trailers.
2018
Time definite and expedite services are launched throughout the continental US. Fleet grown to 45 trucks and 75 trailers
2019
Warehousing and Logistics services are launched with a growing carrier base of 10,000+ partners. Fleet grows to 50 trucks and 120 trailers
2020
Cross border services at the U.S. / Canada border begin. Fleet grows to 100 trucks and 200 van trailers
Started company in 2008 after 20 years as an owner-operator. Originally from Poland, George immigrated to the U.S. with his family at age 9. Over time, he built a deep, thorough knowledge of the trucking industry and continues to keep up with industry trends.
Primary responsibilities:
Serves as the company's GM of maintenance, hiring manager, and chairman.
Started with Sharco Express in 2014 after earning a Bachelor's degree from Oakland University.
Earned an MBA at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2019.
Primary responsibilities:
Load planning, strategy, safety/compliance, driver relations, financial analysis and technology.
Started with Sharco Express in August 2017. Earned a Bachelor’s degree with double majors in Supply Chain Management and Marketing from Central Michigan University in 2014. Went on to earn an MBA with concentration in Operations Management and Finance at the Mike Illitch School of Business at Wayne State University in Detroit in 2019.
Primary responsibilities:
Data analytics, technology, financial analysis, 3rd party logistics, sales, marketing and customer relations.
Started with Sharco Express in January 2014 and has over 20+ years of industry experience within multiple verticals.
